This is still in the unverified reports stage–but, should it indeed come to fruition, it certainly wouldn’t be too much of a surprise. According to The Los Angeles Times, Blockuster recently held a number of meetings with all six major movie studios, to discuss its plans to file for bankruptcy.

The filing is apparently set for the middle of next month. Blockbuster will file Chapter 11, to help shed its $1 billion debt and leases for more than 500 stores–about one-seventh of its total U.S. locations.

Blockbuster CEO Jim Keyes reportedly flew out to L.A. from Dallas for the meetings, joined by a number of “restructuring consultants.” They asked the big six–Fox, Paramount, Sony, Universal, Disney, and Warner Bros–for their support (in the form of rentable DVDs).

Blockbuster’s woes, of course, can largely be traced back to increased competition from the likes of Netflix and Redbox, whose new rental models have largely left Blockbuster behind. the company has attempted to reinvent itself by adopting similar methods–DVD mailers, online streaming, and off-site kiosks–while continuing to slip into debt.

A study conducted by the Austin-based University of Texas reveals that foreclosure, be it bank foreclosures like Citibank foreclosure homes or government or any other type of foreclosure, does not directly cause crime rates to rise as commonly believed by most people.

Authors of the study asserted that foreclosures on their own do not cause crime rates to rise. for example, the number of Houston foreclosed homes will not necessarily dictate the level of crime in this particular city. Researchers have added that both crime and foreclosures are products of factors such as the political status of a community, segregation and poverty.

With the number of foreclosed homes in Texas being some of the highest, some would automatically assume that whatever crime rate the state has is a direct product of the foreclosure rate. however, the study reveals that this is not exactly how it works. The authors revealed that foreclosures do have a potential impact on crime rates, but not directly.

More than anything else, huge numbers of foreclosures such as Citibank foreclosure homes and other bank foreclosures, affect crime rates since most of these properties end up abandoned and vacant which present a lot of opportunities to criminals to commit crimes such as burglary and vandalism. In addition, places that experience rapid changes in rates of foreclosures become disorganized and destabilized, leading to poor control of community crime.

Despite such connections, the authors of the study concluded that crime rates and property foreclosures are not related causally. They stated that both are symptoms of root causes that could include a community’s structural characteristics. The authors reached this conclusion by using foreclosure and crime data in Chicago, Illinois between 2000 and 2008. According to the authors, this is the period when the city’s foreclosure numbers almost tripled.

They focused on the impact of rising rates of foreclosures during these times on crime rates in the community, particularly the impact of the rapid changes in community structures brought by sudden upswings in the number of foreclosed properties, including Citibank foreclosure homes and other bank foreclosures, government foreclosures and other foreclosed property types.

Joey Fatone of Broadway fame and formerly of boy-band is hoping with his wife Kelley to add some star dust to what has been treated all along as a symbol of desperate real estate blues – the foreclosure auction of property. Fatone has two children.

The couple had been trying unsuccessfully for over six months to find a buyer for their gated estate facing the lake on Kilgor Road in Windermere for $5.5 million. It will be put up for auction on 11th September so that with the proceeds they can buy a house in Orlando in an area that houses more families.

The house standing on 12,000 square feet does seem to be facing foreclosure. Roger Soderstrom of Stirling Sotheby’s International Realty has listed the property. Soderstrom commented that the couple does not need to sell it. It is just that they want to get the money and move on to another track with their lives.

Real estate firms across the nation have calculated that a third of all the properties sold in America in 2010 will be through auctions. Sales held on a single day attract many hunters searching for bargains. the price offered at auctions show what the property would have fetched in any case after many months of waiting and bringing down of the price tags in a market that is depressed.

Soderstrom said, “The accelerated sales approach is performing just as well as the traditional sales approach in many cases”.

Bidding will kick off from $3.7 million for the Fatone property. It has been appraised for $6.5 million. the house stands on 4 acres, has a pool similar to that of resorts and a grotto with a sushi bar for entertainment.

The garage can accommodate ten cars. It also has a platform that rotates to showcase prize cars. the master bed room suite is bigger than most of those in Orlando houses. One has to walk through a closet measuring 700 square feet to reach the bathroom. the latter is fitted with a sauna, a steam-room, closets with dual water supply, a walk-in shower and even a Jacuzzi tub.

Fatone has stated that he has no plans of moving away far. he said, “Orlando is awesome — great schools, great restaurants, great everything. It’s an unbelievable place to raise a family because it has everything you need”.

Joey Fatone's house will be Auctioned although it is not in …

term is 60 months, 6.25% APR, $8200 financed. thats well and good.

but heres the swirly part. Finance charge is listed as $4280. this is supposed to be based off APR and amount financed and this value from what ive found is way to high.

this results in my payments being about 48 dollars higher,a nd as a result my total price payed at the end of the of the 5 years is $12480.

the auto loan calculators ive tried online show payments of $159

the contract shows $208 payments. the problem appears to be the finance charge as being calculated way to high. everything ive found
points to it being way to high.

this is supposed to be financed through a third party, a credit union. the dealer was supposed to set things up for me. seeing as the math is completely screwed, but im only getting $8200 financed at 6.25% apr through the credit union im curious as to how this is gonna work out. the dealers contract shows one things, but everything else shows another.

i have a separate sale contract showing the final price of $8200 after tax title and my down payment. so what i owe and the interest rate can’t be disputed. but the financing numbers on the other contract are bogus.

of course this is the day after. go me i wait till now to research this crap.
